Obama, Kaine, win in Virginia

0

Virginia once again voted for democratic presidential incumbent Barack Obama in Tuesday’s historic election. Results favored Romney for most of the evening before pulling very close and finally giving the president Virginia’s 13 electoral votes. Obama won in almost every swing state, losing only North Carolina and Indiana from the 2008 election results. Virginia also elected democrat Tim Kaine for senate, keeping the democratic seat left by Jim Webb who decided to retire. The senatorial race was one of the most expensive in history, with Kaine and fellow former governor George Allen in a tight campaign battle in a state with a politically divided populous.
