An Internal Affairs unit alongside the Criminal Investigations Bureau of the Fairfax County Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting of a man outside of a homeless shelter.
According to police spokesman Eddy Azcarate, on Wednesday night officers were attempting to break up a fight outside of the Eleanor Kennedy Shelter. One of the men fighting physically assaulted one of the officers and was then shot and killed by police.
The identity of the victim, who was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital, has not yet been released.
