A 60-year-old Virginia man died in the medical facility of a Nevada prison last week.
Inmate at the Nevada Department of Corrections, Cornelius Acres, was pronounced dead at a Northern Nevada Correctional Center medical facility on December 17.
Acres had been an inmate in the Nevada prison system since June 1997 after receiving a life sentence for attempted murder in Virginia.
A new Nevada law requires an autopsy to be conducted on inmates who die in custody.
