Gun-show loophole to remain in VA

The Virginia Senate voted once again to block legislation that would require private sellers to conduct background checks on gun sales. Advocates for stricter gun control often cite this issue, known as the “gun-show loophole,” as evidence of a dangerous dearth in effective regulation. Bills to close the loophole are often introduced by Virginia democrats and just as often shut down by a vote in the Senate of the General Assembly.
