Future budget cuts have both sides trying to work out new deal

In January the budget is set to be cut by 1.2 billion, which has some members of congress concerned. The budget cuts could mean a major loss of jobs in the area and hurt the middle class. “You can’t get there without some additional revenues, you can’t get there without at least a longer-term plan to reform entitlements,” Virginia congressman Mark Warner said. Warner is a democracy but is known on capitol hill as being a fiscal conservative.

Over 240,000 jobs are estimated to be loss in Virginia alone, with similar losses coming in Maryland and D.C. “Quite honestly, that ‘Just say no’ crowd is one of the reasons we’re (having) problems in the first place,” Warner said. “It is essential that the Congress take this seriously for the sake of the U.S. economy.” Both sides of the aisle have concerns that the budget cut will also do major damage to the U.S military. Lawmakers have until January to amend or compromise on the budget cuts.
