NBA players talk decertification

0

As negotiations to end the NBA lockout continue, talks surfaced that some players are considering decertifying the union. Union president Derek Fisher and other committee members said there was no truth to the possibility of a rift. Reports surfaced Thursday, however, that a group of about 50 players had met with an antitrust lawyer to pursue decertification of the union. They would consider employing the tactic if union leaders continued to make concessions in negotiations.

The NBA lockout began July 1, and has already led to the cancellation of a month of regular-season games. Both sides met last week, but talks stalled over revenue split. The decertification move, if it were to go through, would likely result in a class action antitrust lawsuit, and make the cancellation of the 2011-12 NBA more probable.
