ESPN pulled the iconic “Are you ready for some football?” intro from “Monday Night Football” following remarks Hank Williams Jr. made about President Obama. Williams drew criticism after he compared Obama to Hitler. He referred to a June golf game with Obama and House speaker John Boehner against Vice President Joe Biden and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, and said, “Come on. That’d be like Hitler playing golf with (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu.”
ESPN made the decision to pull the open from their telecast, citing disappointment in his comments. Williams acknowledged his analogy was “extreme—but it was to make a point.” He added, “I have always respected the office of the president.”
