Giants’ player supposedly fakes injury on field

During Sunday night’s game between the Cowboys and Giants, Cullen Jenkins, defensive lineman for the Giants, apparently interrupted a strategic move made by the Cowboys’ with a fake injury. The Cowboys’ were trying to implement football’s trending tactic of doing away with huddles in order to confuse the opposing defense and keep the pace of the game up. However, Jenkins suddenly came down with an injury that appeared suspicious to almost everyone, and created the pause that the Cowboys were trying so hard to avoid.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones discussed his immediate recognition of a fake injury, saying: “I thought us experts on football were the only ones who could see that. I didn’t know everybody could. It was so obvious it was funny.” The fact that Jenkins jogged off the field, seemingly unharmed, shortly after his supposed injury made the incident appear a bit more suspicious. On the other hand, Jones explained why the situation wasn’t so funny, saying “it wasn’t humorous because we really wanted the advantage and knew we could get it if we could get the ball snapped.”
