Cardinals beat Rangers, force Game 7

0

In the 11th inning of what should have been the final game of the World Series, David Freese hit a home run for the Cardinals, bringing the score to 10-9 and forcing a Game 7. The Cardinals faced elimination twice during the course of the game, down to their final out and their final strike, and brought it back both times to tie the game. After that tense uncertainty, David Freese’s home run means baseball will see its first Game 7 since 2002.

As the Cardinals look to Game 7, they have a sizeable challenge ahead. Several team members sustained injuries, and it has yet to be determined if those injuries will prevent their participation. There is also the fact that no road team has won a Game 7 of the World Series since the1979 Pittsburgh Pirates; the home team has always won in World Series Game 7s since then.
