Obama to push parts of job plan

0

With President Barack Obama’s $447 billion jobs bill now defunct, he is looking to push for individual measures when it is split into smaller portions. Obama will campaign for his jobs bill on a three-day bus tour through North Carolina and Virginia, two states critical in his re-election campaign. While Obama pushes for urgency, it is possible Congress will not take up the individual components of the bill until November.

The measures Obama is pushing for first include $35 billion to assist state and local governments to hire or prevent laying off teachers and first responders. He also wants lawmakers to pass $50 billion in spending on infrastructure, which would create new demand for jobs.
