Obama health care faces setbacks

President Obama’s universal health care law is under fire after an appeals court struck down one of the law’s requirements as unconstitutional. The Obama administration has launched a Supreme Court defense in favor of the measure that would require individuals to have health care by 2014 or pay a penalty. The winners of the appellate case, including 26 states and the National Federation of Independent Business, are now trying to strike down the entire law, not just the 2014 mandate.

The administration said Congress was well within its constitutional power to enact an insurance requirement. The issue is expected to feature prominently in Obama’s re-election bid.
