Mitt Romney wins Nebraska, Oregon primaries

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney won the GOP presidential primaries in Nebraska and Oregon on Tuesday, putting him even closer toward officially sealing the Republican presidential nomination. With nearly all the votes counted in Nebraska, Romney led by 71 percent. Rick Santorum, who gave up his presidential bid in April, earned 14 percent support. In Oregon, with 62 percent of the votes accounted for, Romney earned 73 percent, while Ron Paul, who announced on Monday that he will no longer actively campaign in the GOP presidential primaries, came in second with 12 percent of the vote.

Although Romney won the primaries on Tuesday and may even win all of the delegates, he will not have enough to make his nomination official. Oregon has 25 delegates at stake in its primary and Nebraska, which will be sending 32 delegates to the national convention, is holding a non-binding primary. According to CBS News estimates, Romney had 963 delegates going into the primaries on Tuesday night. He is 181 delegates short of the required 1,144 to win the Republican presidential nomination.
