Mitt Romney conquers all in the Arizona and Michigan primaries on Tuesday evening. In a state where the “trees are the right height,” Romney was very thankful and relieved to claim his home state of Michigan with 41 percent of the vote. Republican presidential candidates Rick Santorum finished with 38 percent of the vote, Ron Paul 12 percent, and Newt Gingrich 7 percent. In the “winner takes all” state of Arizona, Romney received all 29 delegates as well as 48 percent of the vote, while Santorum took 26 percent, Gingrich 16 percent and Paul 8 percent.

In a speech in his childhood home of Michigan on Tuesday night, Romney commented on his win stating, “A week ago, it was just a week ago, the pundits and the pollsters, they were ready to count us out. We didn’t win by a lot, but we won by enough and that’s all that counts.” Santorum said, “This was going to be Romney’s night. The question was how big. And it wasn’t very big,” as the outcome of the primaries illustrated it was a “two-person race right now” between Romney and himself, he added.
