Florida congressman Trey Radel, who plead guilty to cocaine possession charges last year will resign after several GOP leaders, including Governor Rick Scott, requested that he step down. The freshman Republican will send a letter to the House Speaker John Boehner. On November 20, Radel plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of cocaine possession and was sentenced to a year’s probation. The Florida Representative admitted to buying 3.5 grams of cocaine from an undercover officer in Washington. He then entered rehab on November 21. Congressman Radel had only been in office for 10 months before being charged. The House Ethics committee announced their intentions for launching a formal investigation of the congressman.
