DNC wants Filner to resign

The Democratic National Committee will meet this week to vote on a resolution to call San Diego Mayor Bob Filner to resign. Filner has been accused of sexually harassing 16 women. Last month, Filner recognized that he had “failed to fully respect the women who work for me and with me.” However, he has refused to leave office.

DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the San Diego Country Democratic Party are among those who have asked Filner to resign. A draft copy of the resolution read, “We cannot reassure voters that a vote for a Democrat is a vote for a champion for women unless Democrats walk our talk on equality and take firm action in accordance with our values and stand up for women by condemning his behavior and calling on him to immediately resign as Mayor of San Diego.”
