Potential threat of school violence averted in Laurel

0

In the wake of unprecedented horror in Newtown, Connecticut, students at Laurel High School in Maryland were operated until heightened awareness. Their actions may have averted another senseless act of violence at their own school, when school authorities were alerted to the potential danger a fellow student presented to his classmates. The student, who has not been named, was reportedly picked on often, and his behavior led some students to suspect that he was capable and at least planning a shooting rampage of his own. When school officials alerted the police, diagrams found in his locked led them to consider the potential for real danger to be credible. His parents were notified and the student is now receiving mental health treatment.
