A man holding a pellet gun that resembled an assault rifle was shot and killed by police Friday morning. Police received a call about a dispute near Overlook Elementary School in the 3300 block of Curtis Drive. When they arrived on scene, police encountered two men outside an apartment building, one of the men appeared to be armed with an assault rifle. Officers offered for the deceased, 20 year-old Mark Anthony Blocker, to lower his weapon, but he refused. Both officers fired, Blocker was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The second man was not injured. After the incident, two weapons were recovered, both were pellet guns.
