MD deputy shoots man holding replica handgun

When deputy Paul Perriello was invited into the house of Franklin H. Sweeney Jr. on Thursday night he was trying to serve a temporary peace order on the man. Perriello, according to the Riverdale, MD sheriff’s office, had already attempted to serve the court order several times before. This time however, Sweeney emerged from the back of the house holding what has now been determined to be a black replica of a handgun.

Perriello fatally shot Sweeney and is on leave while the incident is being investigated.
