Maryland Democratic Gubernatorial debates begin

On Wednesday night, Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown, State Attorney General Doug Gansler and Montgomery County representative Heather Mizeur kicked off the first Maryland Democratic Gubernatorial debate. The debate was held at University of Maryland, College Park, and began with debate on the state’s online health exchange. Other topics covered included school funding, marijuana legalization, the offensive nature of Washington’s NFL team name, the “Redskins” and the state’s minority achievement gap. Debates and campaigns will continue until the Democratic primary election, slated to be held June 24, 2014.
