In order to come back into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Frederick County, Maryland, has approved a $9.1 million budget for construction costs on its sidewalks and ramps. Thursday’s unanimous decision comes after the Maryland State Highway Administration issued a directive to the county to develop a plan to fix the problem. The 10-year plan will focus first on transportation areas and routes to schools before moving into residential areas. The budget covers only the cost to repair and replace poor areas, but no budget has yet been approved for design, implementation or project management.
