A man has been accused of stabbing his 60-year-old mother with a steak knife in order to steal prescription medication. The incident happened in Brooklyn Park, Maryland on Thursday. According to Anne Arundel County Police, the woman was attacked at her home on Edgevale Road at about 7:30 a.m. The mother told police that her son Paul J. Tond, broke into her bedroom, punched her in the face, then stabbed her in the chest with a steak knife. 31-year-old Tond then attempted to block the bedroom door so his mother could not escape. Once the woman was able to get out, she dialed 911. Officers surrounded the home and immediately took Tond into custody. The mother was transported to the hospital, and is expected to make a full recovery. Tond will be charged with assault, robbery, false imprisonment and attempted second-degree murder.
