Sarah Jessica Parker returns to HBO with new show

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker is set to star in a new HBO comedy series about marital woes. The premium cable channel announced Thursday that 50-year-old Parker will star in the half-hour series titled “Divorce.” She will be portraying a woman who finds that taking a break from her marriage is harder than she expected. Thomas Haden Church plays her husband. Also in the cast are Molly Shannon and Talia Balsam as the best friends of Parker’s character, Frances. Parker previously starred as journalist/relationship expert Carrie Bradshaw in the iconic “Sex and the City” from 1998 to 2004 on HBO, and reprised the role in two big-screen movies. “Divorce” will start filming in New York sometime this year, HBO said. A premiere date has not been announced as of yet.
