Gov. Martin O’Malley and Media Rights Capital have reached an agreement to continue filming popular television series “House of Cards” in Maryland. O’Malley, currently out of the country, released the following statement: “Spoiler alert: We’re going to keep the 3,700 jobs and more than 100 million dollars of economic activity and investment that ‘House of Cards’ generates right here in Maryland.” Media Rights Capital, based in Beverly Hills, California, who originally requested $15 million to stay in Maryland, will receive a total of $11.5 million in incentives as a combination of state film production tax credits and grants authorized by the Maryland General Assembly to continue to film the Netflix series in Maryland.
