A new strategy for Chesapeake Bay restoration is an Environmental Protection Agency led effort involving caps on daily pollution levels coming from six watershed states. The massive cooperative campaign has come under threat, reports the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, by Funk & Bolton, a Baltimore law firm hired by Dorchester County to persuade rural voters to challenge the federally led efforts.

Opponents to the plan cite challenges to agriculture and construction, when the acceptable daily limits for phosphorus, nitrogen, and other algae-bloom causing Bay pollutants caused by run-off. Gov. Martin O’Malley says that efforts by Funk & Bolton are a serious threat to protecting the health of the Chesapeake Bay.
