The Spice Girls united in London on Tuesday to unveil details of their upcoming musical, “Viva Forever.” The musical, written by comedian and “Absolutely Fabulous” co-creator Jennifer Saunders, will be based on the songs that made the band a global sensation in the 1990s, though it will not be a biography of the band. “Viva Forever’’ will include hits like “Wannabe,” “Spice Up Your Life” and “Mama” as it follows a group of friends whose bond is tested after they enter a TV talent show that forces them to deal with overnight fame. Judy Craymer, the woman behind “Mamma Mia”, is producing the musical.
“Viva Forever” begins previews Nov. 27 and opens Dec. 11 at London’s Piccadilly Theatre.
