According to British producers, the expansive documentary series “Planet Earth” is getting a sequel. The next series will be called “Our Planet.” The ambitious project will explore remote wilderness areas across the globe and the animals living there. The filmmakers plan on using the latest digital camera technology as they travel from the planet’s ice caps to ocean depths to deserts and remote forests. The epic eight-part series will take four years to make and is slated for a 2019 release for Netflix customers internationally. “Our Planet” will be produced by U.K.-based Silverback Films and the World Wildlife Fund. Silverback company directors Alastair Fothergill and Keith Scholey will helm the production. “Planet Earth” was created by Silverback for the BBC network in the United Kingdom and was a smash hit for the Discovery Channel in America when it first debuted back in 2007.
