An event honoring Latin music, which was to be hosted at the White House, has been postponed due to the tragic shootings which took place at the Washington Naval Yard Monday.

“Musica Latina: In Performance at the White House” will be delayed and a new date will be set.

The star-studded event was set to include the likes of Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, Arturo Sandoval, Natalie Cole, Marco Antonio Solis, and others in the taping of an ongoing series featuring an array of Latin music styles.

Jimmy Carter was the first president to participate in the taping and celebration, as well as every president after him.

A White House announcement stated, “In light of today’s tragic events at the Washington Navy Yard, and out of respect for the victims and their families, Musica Latina will be postponed to a new date.”
