Chris Kelly died of drug overdose

According to an autopsy report, Kris Kross rapper Chris Kelly died of a drug overdose, which included doses of heroin and cocaine. The 34-year-old died in an Atlanta hospital on May 1st after being found unresponsive in his home.

A Fulton County medical examiner confirmed that Kelly’s death resulted from the toxic effects of mixing heroin, cocaine, ethanol and hydrocodone, and alprazolam.

Kelly and rap partner Chris Smith rose to stardom with their 1992 hit “Jump”, which spent eight weeks at the top of the Billboard hot 100. The duo opened for Michael Jackson’s “Dangerous” tour that same year.

Kris Kross was known for wearing backwards clothing, a style that was heavily imitated.
