Twitter buys MoPub

Twitter, the social media giant, announced on Monday that it is buying the mobile advertising exchange, MoPub. MoPub allows companies that publish on mobile applications to manage their various advertising sources. Based on the values of Twitter’s private stock, reports estimate the cost of the purchase to be around $300 million.

This purchase marks the fourth large acquisition the company has made this year. Twitter has purchased multiple entry-level tech companies with the hope of becoming a focal point for media and advertising. Bluefin Labs, which the company bought in February of this year, allows advertisers and TV networks to receive information on how the public is responding to TV shows via social media. Similarly, Twitter’s August purchase, Trendrr, follows social media activity on TV programs. Specifics about any of the deals have not yet been released.
