Virginians now have the ability to list their blood types on their driver’s licenses. This is the result of Virginia Senate Bill 345 which was introduced by state Senator George Barker. Prior to this, citizens nationwide had the ability to indicate on their driver’s license if they are an organ donor. With this change, first responders are also aware of citizen’s blood types in the event of an emergency. This simple option makes it substantially easier for medical officials to provide aid to patients, without the delays in testing or looking up records to find blood types.
