Redskins trademark battle goes to court again

0

On Tuesday, a judge listened to arguments from the Redskins organization and their opposition, lawyers representing Native Americans, in the team’s lawsuit. The Redskins want to overturn a decision by the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board to cancel the team’s trademark registration because it could be offensive to Native Americans. The football organization argues that this decision violates their right to free speech. The lawyers who represent Native Americans believe their case to dismiss this lawsuit is bolstered by a recent Supreme Court decision that allowed Texas the right to ban license plates with the Confederate flag on them.
