Pentagon may lift ban on transgender military members

On Monday, Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced that the Pentagon would make steps toward the inclusion of transgender military members serving openly. The current policy does not allow military members who identify as transgender to embrace that identity in any outward way. The White House has been pushing the Pentagon to lift the ban, but officials want time to determine the details of medical and legal issues that may arise before they act.
