Danelo Cavalcante, a convicted escapee from Chester County prison eluded law enforcement for two weeks. Cavalcante was convicted of brutally murdering his ex-girlfriend Sarah Brandão, stabbing her 38 times in front of her two young children. He was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life without parole approximately two weeks before he escaped. Cavalcante escaped from the prison by using his arms and legs to push himself up a prison wall.
Cavalcante was found in the woods by a border patrol tactical unit with the help of thermal imaging and a police dog named Yoda. He told law enforcement that he planned to steal a vehicle and escape to Canada. During the two-week manhunt, no one in the general public was harmed and no shots were fired during the capture of the fugitive.
