Man awarded $500k because of doctor’s mockery

A Fairfax County Court ordered an anesthesiologist to pay a patient $500,000 for insulting him during his colonoscopy in 2013. The patient recorded the surgery on his smartphone and on the tape he heard anesthesiologist Tiffany M. Ingram insult his weight and accuse him of having syphilis and tuberculosis. The doctor no longer practices in the area. The jury awarded the patient a combined $500,000 for defamation, medical malpractice, and punitive damages.
