Five million oysters are to be planted in Patapsco River

A collaboration between the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore’s Healthy Harbor Initiative and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation aims to plant five million oysters in the Patapsco River by 2020. The Healthy Harbor Initiative states that a major benefit to having a thriving oyster population would be the oysters’ natural ability to filter pollution, possibly helping to restore the health of the Baltimore Harbor. The majority of the oysters will come from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s oyster restoration center.
