A small drone crashed into an empty seating area during a match between Flavia Pennetta and Monica Niculescu Thursday night at the US Open. No one was hurt by the aircraft, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) stated. The New York City teacher allegedly operating the drone, Daniel Verley, was arrested of reckless operation of a drone and of operating a drone in a New York City area outside of prescribed areas, according to the New York Police Department. Verley has been released and will appear in court on a later date.
