ISIS responsible for attack in Texas

National – The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria claimed the attack on a Texas art exhibit – the first attack ISIS has claimed within the U.S. The display featured drawings of the Prophet Muhammad and the terror organization’s radio station made a statement promising “what’s yet to come will be worse and more bitter.” U.S. officials have yet to confirm the group’s legitimate involvement.

 

D.C. Police officer and pastor accused of sexual abusing teenagers

Washington, D.C. – Darrell Best is a D.C. police officer and pastor at the God of a Second Chance Ministry Church and has been accused of sexually abusing two teenagers, but will face federal child pornography charges. He already faces several counts of sex abuse of a minor. Best’s defense attorney says they are only allegations at this point and looks forward to conducting an independent investigation.

 

George Washington Parkway a mess after Coca-Cola truck gets stuck

Washington, D.C. – There are major delays today after a Coca-Cola truck gets stuck under a bridge on George Washington Parkway. The truck hit the bridge around 1 p.m. and a labor crew is still working to get the vehicle out. They are currently waiting for a tow truck.

 

Obama launches program to reverse racial inequalities

Politics – In response to the protests in Baltimore, President Obama launches this new foundation, My Brother’s Keeper Alliance. He said there was a “lack of opportunity in minority communities.” Obama calls for the nation’s mobilization to reverse the harsh treatment and “unfairness”  of black and Hispanic men by police. Reversing racial inequalities will continue to be a mission to the end of his term and his life.
