Adele scores at Grammy nominations

British singer Adele, 23, took six Grammy nominations, including ones for best record, song and album of the year. Only one artist scored more, Kanye West, with seven nominations. Adele was the focus among the nominated artists, and is considered a clear favorite among many of her competing categories. Adele underwent a recent throat surgery which cancelled the remainder of her 2011 shows, and it is uncertain yet if she will sing at the February 12 Grammy awards.

Bruno Mars and Foo Fighters tied Adele with six nominations each. Only Mars got nominations in the three top categories with Adele: record, song and album. Other nominees in the record of the year category include Mumford & Sons, Bon Iver and Katy Perry. A notable snub of the evening was to Taylor Swift, who pulled three nominations only in country categories.
