On Monday, President Barack Obama held a private fundraiser with roughly 20 donors, who each gave $35,800 to his re-election effort. President Obama held the event at the upscale W Hotel near the White House. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be divided between Obama’s re-election campaign and the Democratic Party. Unfortunately, the fundraiser was closed to the media.
By the end of February, Obama reportedly raised about $300 million for his 2012 campaign for the general presidential election and the Democratic National Committee during the current election cycle. Last Friday, the president raised more than $4 million during events in Chicago and Atlanta.
