MLK celebration in Washington

Monday marks the 83rd birthday and anniversary of Civil Rights leader and activist Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King was assassinated in April of 1968. MLK’s death was first observed in 1986 and was marked by Congress as a national holiday in 1994. President Barack Obama and his family plan to participate in a community service project in Washington at the Brown Education Campus to honor and remember an American leader. They will also attend the Let Freedom Ring Celebration in remembrance of Dr. King.
