Fares have gone up as of Sunday for the riders of the Washington’s Metro transit system. Fares will increase an average of about 10 cents per trip. Metro says short trips of 3 miles or less will increase from $1.70 to $1.75 during off-peak times and from $2.10 to $2.15 during rush hour. Parking rates also increased by 10 cents at all Metro-operated facilities. Parking rates at some Metro-operated facilities in Prince George’s County will go up an additional 50 cents for a total 60 cent increase.
