Thursday

In his first PGA tournament since back surgery, Tiger Woods has been up and down in the Quicken Loans National. After shooting a 3-over 74 on Thursday, Woods bounced back with four pars to start round two Friday. However, he then double bogeyed No. 5, and parred the next two. The rest of the day was similarly hot and cold: birdies on No. 9 and 10 were followed by bogeys on No. 11-14. Sitting at +8 for the tournament after Friday, it’s unclear if Woods will make the cut, which is currently at +2.

Despite not being the performance he was hoping for, Woods is excited to be playing professionally again. “Adrenaline is rushing and I hit the ball further out here than I do at home,” he said. “I was trying to get the numbers, trying to get the feels. It unfortunately took a while to get the feel for it.
Heading into Saturday, the leader board is currently filled with lesser known golf pros: Ricky Barnes, Marc Leishman, Patrick Reed, and Oliver Gross are all tied for first with 6 under par.
Friday
Tiger Woods missed the cut on Friday at Congressional, ending at 4 over par for the day.  Woods ended the day on an upbeat note.  “I hate to say it, but I’m really encouraged by what happened this week,” Woods said. “I missed the cut by four shots — that’s a lot. But the fact that what I was able to do physically, and the speed I had and the distance that I was hitting the golf ball again, I had not done that in a very long time. Felt great today. Then, as I said, I made so many little mistakes … all the little things that I know I can fix. But as I said, that’s very encouraging.”
