The Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery installed a painting of Maya Angelou on Thursday, only a day after her passing. The portrait, painted by Ross Rossin, will be on display until June 12. The portrait was unveiled in a ceremony that Angelou attended back in April. During the ceremony she spoke about her life saying, “…courage to look into one another’s face no matter what color, no matter what community to see one’s own self.”
