Marion Barry ‘on schedule’ for fundraising

0

The District’s Councilman and former Mayor, Marion Barry, reports that he is “on schedule” when it comes to fundraising before the primary elections on April 3. Barry has received nearly 150 donations since February 1, but less than 10 of the donations came from the residents of his Ward, which is Ward 8, according to The Washington Times.

On Tuesday, Barry told The Washington Times that his constituents lack the extra income to donate, and many of them believe he doesn’t need any assistance winning re-election. Of the 144 contributions Barry’s campaign has received, only 27 of them are from Ward 8 and 7 of those are from individuals instead of businesses. Jacque Patterson, one of Barry’s opponents, received 9 of his 54 most recent contributions from Barry’s Ward.
