A press conference held Tuesday afternoon announced the sweater design for the 2015 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic. The event will be held at Nationals Park in D.C. on January 1, 2015 between the Washington Capitals and the Chicago Blackhawks. Attended by executive members of the NHL, Bridgestone, each of the franchises and the media, the conference celebrated the history of the event and looked forward to the New Year’s Day event. D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray said at the event, ‘With all due respect to the Blackhawks, I think you’re going to come in 2nd that day.” The Capitals sweaters can be seen below. They feature a more old-fashioned style, of red, white and blue, with a large “W” on the chest that includes the silhouette of the Washington Monument and other references to historic uniform styles.
