Ted Loza, the former chief of staff to the Councilmember Jim Graham, was released on Monday after spending eight months in prison, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ website. The former District of Columbia official pleaded guilty to accepting money in a bribery case involving the city’s taxicab industry.

The former D.C. official pleaded guilty in February 2011 on two counts of accepting illegal gratuities and one count of making a false statement. Loza acknowledged accepting a total of $1,500 in cash from a taxicab industry representative and not reporting the money on a financial disclosure statement.
