A District of Columbia police officer is facing charges of attempted murder.
According to authorities Samson Lawrence, 45, hit his wife over the head with a metal lamp post and made deadly threats towards her during an altercation last month.
Lawrence, a patrol officer, was released on $200,000 bond. It has not been confirmed whether or not he has an attorney.
Assistant Police Chief Peter Newsham says Lawrence has been a member of the department for 13 years.
