Woodbridge to get a Metro station?

Prince William County is the second largest in the state, with over 400,000 people, and that number is expected to continue growing. In order to ease some of the commuter traffic, Congressman Gerry Connolly is looking into the possibility of extending the Metro to Woodbridge. Connolly has proposed a bill that would study available options as well as determine the cost of such a course of action.

While expanding the Metro may not be financially feasible, there are other options. One of those is having Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) along the Route 1 corridor, and a third option would be light-rail. “Unfortunately, so much of our decision making is in the short term. We’ve got to break out of that mindset and think about our long-term vision,” Connolly said.
