Two Navy SEALs die in training accident

According to the Navy, a second SEAL has passed away following a tragic training accident in a swimming pool at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story in Virginia. Lieutenant David Lloyd announced to media outlets that 34-year-old Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Brett Allen Marihugh (of Livonia, Michigan), died Sunday. Both Marihugh and 32-year-old Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Seth Cody Lewis (of Queens, New York), were found unresponsive at the bottom of the pool at the Combat Swimming Training Facility. Lewis died Friday. The pool is regularly used by SEALs during training. Lewis was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the local hospital. Marihugh, who had been in grave condition, died after being transferred to Sentara Virginia Beach General. Both sailors were members of Naval Special Warfare Group 2. An investigation of the incident is pending. Marihugh and Lewis both served in the U.S. Marine Corps prior to enlisting in the Navy in 2006.
