Herndon named one of top places to raise children

Herndon, Virginia was named one of best places in the country to raise children by Bloomberg Businessweek magazine. Only one neighborhood or community in each state was chosen for the list.

A great school system, low unemployment, location–proximity to Dulles Airport, DC, major highway systems, and the Shenandoah Valley–, and kid-centered public space all factored into the decision. Major Lisa Merkel boasts of Herndon’s smalltown feel, which harkens back to another time. There are 23,000 residents in an area teeming with jobs in information and technology.
